CCC, strategic partner for EDEX Expo 2013

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) will continue as a strategic partner of EDEX Expo 2013 for the eighth consecutive year

"The Chamber's involvement with EDEX reflects the importance it places on education to produce the right workforce in meeting the challenges facing our country. In an era where the key to success is the ability to compete, the vision of EDEX is appropriate, one which the Chamber can relate to and support without reservation", Secretary General of CCC, Harin Malwatte said.

The CCC creates mutual alliances with partners who catalyse youth to achieve their dreams in higher education, skills development and employment. "Our private sector recognises that there is a need to create a conscientious, productive and employable workforce. It is firmly rooted in the belief that sustainable growth and hence profits, will accrue only if the benefits of development percolate to the grassroot and if opportunities are open to all sections of our population", he said.

The CCC conducts several projects to empower youth, including a Career Guidance Program for O-Level and A-Level qualified students and the Youth Business Sri Lanka Program that assists and mentors emerging young entrepreneurs.

Acknowledging the partnership, Chairman, EDEX, Kamal Abeysinghe said, "The partnership of the Chamber has been a great source of strength and encouragement to EDEX. It has grown stronger over the years due to the pursuit of mutually rewarding objectives which we value. This year there will be a zone for career-oriented programs. Many corporate institutions can gain by using the EDEX platform to recruit employees in a cost-effective manner".

The EDEX Expo 2013, the 10th in its series will be held from January 18-20, 2012 at the BMICH and from January 25-26 at the Kandy City Centre, Kandy.
