Munchee excels in exports

Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL), manufacturers of Munchee biscuits and other food and confectionery products was the most outstanding exporter of the year at the 20th Annual NCE Export Awards held recently.

The company received three gold awards: the most outstanding exporter among all the exporters, the most outstanding exporter in the Industry sector and the most outstanding exporter in confectionery and beverage sub sector.

To cater to growing demand in the export market CBL recently set up a new factory for export at the Seethawaka Export Processing Zone at a cost of Rs.1.3 bn.

General Manager Exports, CBL, Jude Rubera said that receiving these awards symbolises CBL's excellence in exports and its contribution towards the economy.

"We secured the most outstanding exporter of the year award beating many traditional exporters. The success of our flagship brand Munchee has largely contributed towards this award," said Jude Rubera.

He said that Munchee exports 800-900 mt per month to more than 45 countries in all six continents.

"As a company, we have continuously penetrated new markets. CBL is very strong in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in the areas of arts and culture, education, sports, community uplift, corporate philanthropy, disaster response and infrastructure development," he said.
