Drawing a fox
 Despite
foxes being so common in villages and towns, many people never see one.
I think this is because they don't expect to see one, and don't look one
for it. I hope that you will now search your area to look for one and
then attempt to draw it.. Figure 1 shows how a fox is alert. First I
have drawn a line sketch to give the basic shape which is oval. The ears
are elliptical. The eyes look out. The bottom sketch is a completed
illustration of an alert fox. Notice lots of dots and dashes.
The eyes are drawn between the dotted lines expressing a suspicious
look.
The thin lines in black on the animal is drawn with a thin nib to
show the fur.
The correct shape of the animal can be suggested by the way fur, hair
or markings are drawn. It would be wrong to use straight lines to depict
hair or fur. Take a close look at the overall shape of the animal.
Then try to sketch it quickly and boldly. Remember that once you get
the basic shape right you will have a correct structure to work on.
Adding the rest of the details will then be quite easy. Practise these
illustrations several times until you are able to draw them from memory.
First do a pencil drawing using HB or 2B pencil and complete the
sketch with pen and ink. |
