Do natural disasters herald a new age?

Astrologers, scientists and others have spoken of a Planet X. Are they referring to Nibiru and does it herald catastrophe and the end of the Earth, a greater consciousness for nature and mankind or another planet orbiting the solar system?

News headlines daily bring to our attention natural calamities that occur around the world. In the recent past, these have been happening more frequently. Ash clouds in Europe, Chile and Australia, earthquakes in New Zealand, landslides in China, a tsunami and nuclear leaks in Japan and unprecedented floods in various countries are the hot topics of the day. One hardly has time to forget one disaster when more destruction occurs in another part of the globe.

Let’s not forget our experience of the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004. The sudden disappearance of loved ones while they were enjoying themselves in the calm sea traumatised some of the survivors. When that friendly sea instantly turned intimidating, when flash floods swallowed the beloved, when memories of the tragedy suddenly surface, nothing could calm the mind. Recurring nightmares of the macabre experiences have taken years to forget while a few have still not recovered.

Trauma

Not many went through the trauma, but the heart-rending experiences of human grief are embedded in our minds and souls. People of different races, religions and castes got together to help others. Money poured in for rehabilitation and repair. Some risked their lives to help those in trouble; individual and collective bravery confirmed the latent human compassion that came out to the fore, endorsing the oneness of the human race.

The devastation continues. Eight years ago in Sri Lanka, an year ago in Japan. Calamities erupt suddenly, sometimes within the same territory as if they want to continue the unfinished work, but more often in other parts of the world, to ravage in greater force. Science cannot deal with the wrath of nature.

Nibiru is a planet larger than Earth in our solar system and appears every 3,600 years. In the past, when Nibiru had come closer to the Earth, it had brought about catastrophes, volcanoes and unprecedented calamities. A researcher named Zecharia Stichin, who had read and translated the ancient languages of the Sumerians, had discovered that the Sumerian civilisation was the first on the Earth and they were taught everything by their gods Anunnaki. They knew the movements of the planets in the solar system. According to Stichin, these are evidenced in ancient hieroglyphics.

Unknown planet

Astronomers have long speculated about this unknown planet – Planet X or the 10th planet. The Mayan Calendar ends on December 21, 2012 and there are predictions about the end of the world. Edgar Cayce has predicted the pole shift, which would make the sea the land and the land the sea.

Whether we believe it or not, we are told of the disruption of the plates that maintain the foundation of the Earth, which is happening right now. A few cracks have appeared even in Sri Lanka. North America had shifted towards Japan or vice versa to one and a quarter miles from their original position. The frequencies of catastrophes and devastation are not natural and violent disturbances in nature are becoming regular.

Sri Aurobindo said: “There are moments when the Spirit moves among men and the breath of the Lord is abroad upon the waters of our being; there are others when it retires and men are left to act in the strength or the weakness of their own egoism. The first are periods when even a little effort produces great results and changes destiny; the second are spaces of time when much labour goes to the making of a little result. It is true that the latter may prepare the former, may be the little smoke sacrifice going up to heaven which calls down the rain of God’s bounty.

“Unhappy is the man or the nation which, when the divine moment arrives, is found sleeping or unprepared to use it, because the lamp has not been kept trimmed for the welcome and the ears are sealed to the call. But thrice woe to them who are strong and ready, yet waste the force or misuse the moment; for them is irreparable loss or a great destruction.

Hour of God

“In the Hour of God, cleanse thy soul of all self-deceit and hypocrisy and vain self-flattering that thou mayst look straight into thy spirit and hear that which summons it. All insincerity of nature, once thy defence against the eye of the Master and the light of the ideal, becomes now a gap in thy armour and invites the blow. Even if thou conquer for the moment, it is the worse for thee, for the blow shall come afterwards and cast thee down in the midst of thy triumph.

“But being pure cast aside all fear; for the hour is often terrible, a fire and a whirlwind and a tempest, a treading of the winepress of the wrath of God; but he who can stand up in it on the truth of his purpose is he who shall stand; even though he fall, he shall rise again; even though he seems to pass on the wings of the wind, he shall return. Not let worldly prudence whisper too closely in thy ear; for it is the hour of the unexpected.”

When will the Hour be, today, tomorrow, December 2012 as in the Mayan Calendar, in the distant future or in 2087 as enunciated by Stichin?

Astrologers and scientists can only guess, not predict. It may not be predicted, but the recent happenings in countries around us and in other parts of the globe are ominous pointers of looming universal upheavals in the near or distant future?

It would be catastrophic to those who have ignored the call. But those who have tried to progress spiritually, to be truthful to oneself without hypocrisy, keeping the lamp lit, may welcome and look forward to the change if they could intuit what’s happening. Life is not a freak chance. Life cannot be lived for complete annihilation at a future date.

Predictions

The Bible, Quran, Indian Puranas and Nostradamus predicted that mankind would be wiped out from the Earth on May 8, 1999. However, these were predictions and like in astrology, indicate a general trend. To forecast exact dates is at the moment beyond the ability of man.

It was pointed out that, on that fateful day, eight planets would line up and the world will come to an end. Over a decade has passed and the Earth is still revolving and people are going about their daily chores.

El Nino warnings did not bring about total devastation, the year of George Orwell did not witness another Lemuria or Atlantis. Are we entering the Sathwa Yuga – the golden age free of calamity or is this the dark night before the golden dawn?

Scientists, doctors, philosophers, writers and eminent people have endorsed that a new consciousness is pervading the Earth to herald the advent of an Evolutionary Upsurge. In 1972, Dr. William Tiller, Professor of Material Science at Stanford said, “We have all heard the expression, when an ideas time has come nothing on earth can stop it. What he meant was an idea from a different dimension.”

He said, “Well, we are at that moment in time when such an event is happening – a transformation is occurring in man”.

He called it the beginning of the Psychic Age of Man. What he meant was an attitude to life not dictated by the surface level or superficial nature, but going inwards by bringing down higher forces that are now pervading the Earth.

Most religions have touched upon it – look within, but stereotyping religion and laying emphasis on dogma and cult has usurped the true meaning of religion. It is to go beyond the narrow confines of religion and their different labels of identity, but to live in consonance with esoteric teachings.

Like Tiller, many others have researched and endorsed the changes in consciousness. Director of Psychophysiology Laboratory of Menninger Foundation Elmer E. Green, described the next stage of consciousness as trans-personal consciousness. He said, “The evolutionary progression is said to be mineral, plant, animal, personal (human consciousness), and trans-personal, the beginning of another kind of consciousness.”

John White, author of several books on the subject says in Future Science, “Signs of the ‘new transcendentalism’ are manifest. Evidence abounds of a marked turning inward and of the re-acceptance into the culture of those spiritual concerns that has been thrust into the background by the fantastic successes of modern materialist science and technology.”

World War Two was not the devil’s wrath, but nature’s method of effacing the old for a new phase – the acceleration of spiritual and material progression of the world. Eminent persons have spoken of the ascent of our consciousness to a higher level – The Psychic Age of Man, ‘new transcendentalism’ or Supermind as Sri Aurobindo names it.

Then, is this a divine afflatus heralding a change? Are the catastrophes and the disasters proclaiming an evolutionary upsurge? Are we at the threshold of the next stage of evolution of the mental man to the Supra Mental Being and is the invasion from Nibiru heralding the advent of super beings, which will integrate with earthlings and be the forerunner of the evolution of man to superman?

Are we witnessing the dark night before the break of the golden dawn?
