Eight meet records on second day

Eight meet records were established on the second day at the Kandy
District schools meet conducted by the Central Province Athletic
Association. Two records were established by the boys while six by the
girls athletes.
Among the girls, B.M.H.H. Seriwardena of Girls High School, Kandy was
responsible of setting two new meet records in 200 metres and 100 metres
Under 15 events.
She clocked 13 seconds beating the existing record of 13.6 seconds by
P. Wickramasinghe of Mahamaya Girls College in the year 2007. Other
record is for the 200 metres came when she clocked 27.4 seconds to erase
the previous record of 27.5 seconds set by the same athlete namely P.
Wickramasinghe

metres - Previous record S.L. Wijesekera of Dheerananda - 1.60 m in 2005
Records by girls: M. Lakmini Kumari - under-12 - 100 metres 14.4
seconds - Previous record Dinithi Jayasekera 14.5 secs in 2003.
Steffna Fernando - under-11 Good Shephered Covent, Kandy - Long jump
- 3.66 mts. Previous record 3.25 metres - by D. Amarasekera of Danture
MMV in 2007.
J.P.G.T.S. Jayasinghe - Galagedera MMV under-11 - 100 metres - 15.1
secs. Previous record - B. Samarasinghe - Mahamaya BMV - 15.4 secs in
2005.
B.G.W.M. Sriyananda, Kandy - under-15 - discus throw - distance 23.45
metres. Previous record - H.T.L.K. Liyanage of Bandarawela College -
distance 22.42 metres.
Finals will be held today at the Bogambara grounds.
