LOLC Micro Credit (LOMC), the micro-finance entity of the LOLC Group
felicitated 244 students who had performed well at the recently
concluded Grade five scholarship examination.
The Isuru Diriya Scholarship Awards program of LOMC was held for the
third consecutive year at the Bishop's College auditorium recently. LOMC
provides scholarships, gifts and skills development through educational
programs and seminars for students sitting the Scholarship Examination.
LOLC Group, Group Managing Director and CEO Kapila Jayawardena said
that providing financial support to students is a key objective of the
company in its endeavour to empower the future generation.
Hirushima Nethmi Pathiraja of Nikaweratiya, Rashmika Pasindu Malshan
of Mathugama and Vishmi Adithya of Elpitiya were the top three students
who obtained the best results at the examination.
LOMC Director and CEO Ravi Tissera said that the scholarship program
has been a remarkable success through the years. “We were overwhelmed by
the response we got from parents and educators. The program has helped
change the lives of students.
Examination preparatory seminars were held for over 10,000 children
of the Group's loan clients and over 1,000 children who had passed the
examination with exceptional results were felicitated by LOMC,” he said.
