Animal friends in cartoon style
 It's
always easy and simple to draw birds and other animal friends in cartoon
style. You can scribble away with a pencil at the basic shape until the
desired animal formation turns up.
Figure 1 will show you how to draw a bird in cartoon form. Notice how
the body and head start as oval forms while the beak and wings are
roughly triangular in shape . A large eye which is not in proportion
with the rest of the body has been drawn in. The pupil can be a spot
showing in which direction the bird is looking. A hint of feathers, the
mouth line and then the feet can be drawn later. Remember the importance
of constructing each drawing starting from the correct basic shape of
the particular creature you have chosen to draw. First draw the basic
lines and then draw in the details.
You will find more feathered friends drawn in Figure 2. A song bird,
a sad-faced duck, a bird of prey and a cross-eyed woodpecker.
Draw these birds in pencil initially and finally go over them with
pen and ink. I have drawn in pencil the outline of each animal as a
guide. Observe the basic shape of each dog drawn on Figure 3. Note how
the eyes and mouth can reflect mood just like in humans. The little
hairy dog was drawn with a thin nibbed pen. To indicate the texture of
fur, dots and dashes have been used. Figure 4 also shows two breeds of
dogs you can use as a guide .
Figure 5 shows the outlined sketches of cats with different
expression on their faces.
Animals are popular subjects drawn in cartoon form for children's
books, greeting cards, cartoon films and for many other commercial
projects. Almost every known creature is worthy of a funny drawing, so
look at the animal friends around you and see how successfully you can
draw a cartoon sketch of these animals. |
