Talaash was released on December 20 at the Liberty. Talaash follows
inspector Surjan Singh Shekhawat (Aamir Khan), who is tackling the
accidental death of a film star Armaan Kapoor (Vivan Bhatena). As
Shekhawat unfolds the strange case, he gets entangled in a drama that
has more to it than meets the eye. Meanwhile, his personal life suffers
as he reels under the repercussions of an almost-broken marriage with
Roshni (Rani Mukerji), and comes face-to-face with his suppressed grief
of losing his only child.
While trying to investigate the case, Shekhawat meets a sex worker
Rosie (Kareena Kapoor), who helps him fight his inner demons and also
helps him with his inquiry about the accident.
How Shekhawat solves the case and revives his relationship with his
wife forms the crux of the story.The cast includes: Aamir Khan as
Inspector Surjan Singh Shekhawat, Rani Mukerji as Roshni, Kareena Kapoor
as Rosie/Simran, Raj Kumar Yadav as Devrath Kulkarni, Shernaz Patel as
Frenny, Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Tehmur, Vivan Bhatena as Armaan Kappor
and Pariva Pranati as Soniya Kappor.
Nari Burathi goes to Punchi Theatre

Sarath Kothalawala's Nari Burathi will be staged at Namel Malini
Punchi Theatre, Borella today at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m. The cast
includes Sarath Kothalawala, Kumara Thirimadura, Pubudu Chathuranga,
Mihira Sirithilaka, Sarath Chandrasiri, Hemantha Iriyagama, Chinthaka
Peiris, Janaka Ranasinghe and Wajira Kodithuwakku.

Sando Harris's Sergeantge Nandamma will be staged at the following
places:
December 24 Town Hall, Dehiwala at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
December 25 Town Hall, Hettipola at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
December 30 Town Hall, Dompe at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
The cast includes Sando Harris, Susila Kottage, Nandana
Hettiarachchi, Shani Jayawardane and Milinda Perera.
Neethi Ranga 2012
A concert of lawyers, organised by the Neethi Ranga committee of the
Bar Association of Sri Lanka was held recently at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda
Rajapaksa theatre. Priyani Perera was the chairman of the organising
committee and the convenor was Athula Herath.
Mica at Gateway

Back after successful performances in Switzerland vocalist Lucky
Fernando is in Sri Lanka with his group Mica. Together with his band,
which has now acquired a new sound in music, they will be featured in an
all night session at Gateway, Negombo on December 31. The band comprises
Lucky Fernando vocals, Chris Fernando keyboards and vocals, Thushara
Manula Jayanath drums, acoustic guitar and vocals, with Kalani
Wijegunawardena guitar and Sinhala vocals.
1000 Feet of Hope and Palimpsest:
India and Europe at Indian Cultural Centre
Indian Cultural Centre will screen documentary films titled 1000 Feet
of Hope by Faiza Khan and the film Palimpsest: India and Europe by
Archana Kapoor at 5.30 pm on December 28 at its auditorium.
1000 Feet of Hope is on an artificial low-cost limb invented by an
illiterate craftsman the Jaipur Foot that has given a new lease of
life to thousands in India. Now it makes its way to Jaffna, where the
team attempts to fit 1,000 limbs in one month. The film follows the
journey of this group as they continue to forge new medical boundaries
and break political ones.
Palimpsest: India and Europe, helps understand fascinating cross
cultural influences in societies that geographically so far away yet
emotionally so close to India. It is a journey through five countries of
Europe to experience the influence of Indias diverse and colourful
culture that has gently and silently moved into societies which do not
have linguistic, historical or colonial ties with India.
The documentary weaves stories of Europeans as they interface with
Indian dance, music and cinema and interpret them in their own way.
The admission is free on first come first served basis.
Albopictus to battle dengue menace
Gunapala Karunapathirana has produced a short play Albopictus which
gives a message on the dengue menace and how to prevent it. He has
directed dramas such as Meda Peradiga and Puran Kethe Pambaya. His
teledramas include Ira Handa Yata, Nimak Nethi Sasara Maga and Avurudhu
Udanaya.
The play is staged free by the Karuna Guna Samaja Seva Padanama,
Vaidya Road, Dehiwela. |
