BOI hosts Polish business delegation
A business delegation from Poland headed by Vice President of the
Polska Izba Gospodarcze (Polish Chamber of Commerce), and Chairman and
CEO of the Linter Group, Leszek Lazarczyk, whose visit to Sri Lanka was
organised and facilitated by Minister/Deputy Chief of Mission of the
Embassy of Sri Lanka to Poland, D.S. de Silva, was hosted by the BOI.
Linter group is a founder-member of the Polish Chamber of Commerce
with offices in five countries.
The delegation's visit to the island was to evaluate the potential
for investment in Sri Lanka in key areas where Polish enterprises have
comparative advantages, notably in power generation and pharmaceutical
manufacture. The delegation also expressed interest in alternative
medicine, spas and related products including Ayurveda-based products
and services.
At the meeting Chairman and Director General of the BOI Dr Lakshman
Jayaweera and other senior officials of the Board briefed the Polish
delegation on the incentives Sri Lanka offers investors and on the
country's favourable business environment. Representing BOI were
Director (Media and Publicity), Dilip S. Samarasinghe Director
(Promotion), Ms Nilupul de Silva, Director (Investment) W.U.K.M.A
Wijayakulathilaka and Senior Deputy Director, Utilities Sector,
L.A.K.P.W Wijeweera.
