Peterites in first innings win over Joseph Vaz

St. Peter’s College had to be satisfied with a first innings win by 96 runs against Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa in their inter school Under-19 cricket match worked off at Bambalapitiya.

Resuming at 118 for 4 in reply to Peterite’s total of 286 on day two Vazians were all out for 190 runs with skipper Kasun Vidura (69) and Sevwinda Silva unbeaten on 52 and they had a valuable partnership of 54 runs for the sixth wicket. Crishan Fernando bowled best for the homesters with 3 for 32.

In their second essay Peterites batted until the close and they were 254 for 9 with Lahiru Viranga making the top score of 71 and Julien de Zilwa unbeaten on 44 runs. Hasanka Rathnayake, Kasun Vidura and Tarindu Dilshan claimed three wickets each while Tarindu Dilshan claimed a hatrick.

St. Peter’s: 286 and 254/9 (Jason Buljents 32, Janith Liyanage 32, Lahiru Viranga 71, Julien de Zilwa 44 n.o, Chemila Obeysekera 25, Dushan Hemantha 23, Hasanka Rathnayake 3/23, Kasun Vidura 3/53, Tarindu Dilshan 3/33).

Joseph Vaz: 190 all out (Kasun Vidura 69, Sevwinda Silva 52 n.o, Chemila Obeysekera 2/14, Crishan Fernando 3/32, Julien de Zilwa 2/43, Sahan Nanayakkara 2/22).
