After Geneva, now it's foreign intervention in local cricket
It is brought to our notice that vested interests are trying to
influence certain SLC officials from seriously considering a bid that a
Sri Lankan pioneering television and movie production company with over
30 years of experience in the field, including that of cricket and mega
events productions called Fine Vision Group that has collaborated with
an Indian company named SportzWorkz in bidding for the production rights
of SLC, is being victimized on the pretext that the said company lacks
capacity to carry out productions of international standards when in
fact they have carried out such productions, especially, when SLC found
itself in troubled waters during a recent tour of West Indies when the
contractual party refused to carry out the production and Fine Vision
stepped in to save the day for SLC.
Fine Vision besides that had carried out the production of SLPL in
collaboration with the same Indian company which holds the rights for 3
years for SLPL.
Fine Vision also carries the honour of carrying out the Full HD TV
production in Sri Lanka which was broadcasted to more than 100 countries
and is the only production company here with Full HD TV capability while
agent for many state of the art video production equipment of great
repute.
It is further believed that, certain International parties that have
bid for these rights are carrying out a vilifying campaign against this
consortium in order to ensure that their interests would be safeguarded.
When contacted, the Sri Lankan company explained that benefits to the
country would be immense in the event of winning the production rights
as that would ensure further training for local professionals in the
television field where by 2014 more than 50% of staff will be Sri Lankan
and by the 2015 it’ll be more than 95%, saving crucial amounts of
foreign exchange to the country while the staff’s employability capacity
too would increase.
This would open doors for various foreign projects even for Sri
Lankan TV production companies in the region and beyond.
Further, this consortium is the only bidder that has offered to cover
domestic, first class and school cricket for more than 10 days each year
right throughout the 7 year period, in order to develop more interest in
the game locally that would have an ultimate overall positive effect on
the game.
Fine Vision Group said if the cost for covering domestic cricket is
taken out their price is the lowest from all the bidders.
