UK's revised travel advisory comes under fire
The External Affairs Ministry through its High Commission in London
has strongly objected to the revised UK travel advisory on Sri Lanka.
The Ministry has instructed Sri Lanka's High Commission in UK to make
representations immediately to the Foreign Office regarding the revised
Travel Advisory issued two days ago. The travel advisory has cautioned
without valid ground the apparent anti-Western attitude among the public
in general. It has also indicated violence against foreigners and
alleges that public rallies in the country end in clashes.
The Ministry has also pointed out that the reference to demining
operations as military operations has given an inaccurate impression of
the current situation.
