Mahamaya swimmers

The Sports Field has brought plenty of success for Mahamaya Girls
College, Kandy and one of the sports that Mahamaya Girls College has
excelled in recent times is swimming. Hard work, proper training and
proper guidance is the secret of their success said Mahamaya Swimming
Team captain Imani Abayakoon.
All the encouragement for the Mahamaya girls to excel in swimming has
been given by their Principal Mrs. Withanachchi. Coaching has been done
by U.H. Sugath. Training has been done early morning from 5.15 a.m. To
7.15 a.m. from Monday to Friday each week with a rest for the girls on
Saturday and Sunday.
To give the necessary encouragement and push for the improvement of
the girls has been given by former Teacher-in-Charge Mrs. c.
Ruwanpathirana and current Teacher-in-Charge Miss Dhammika Siripala who
are always egging the girls on.
The school has been successful in the Two-Mile Sea Swim, Junior
Nationals, Relay Carnival and the Pentathlon Championships held this
year.
Mahamaya Girls are eagerly looking forward to their next meet in
Colombo from June 18 to 20.
The Principal of Mahamaya, Mrs. Withanachchi is giving the girls all
the encouragement to forge ahead in the sphere of studies and sports and
the girls have responded adequately.
