Adventures of Ricky Deen

A special screening of Adventure of Ricky Deen will be held at the Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka on the 9th June at 7pm. Special feature of the screening is that the Musicians of The Chember Music Society Of Colombo will play the music live for the film.

The music for the film was composer of Lakshman Joseph de Saram who invited filmmaker Boodee Keerthisena to make a film using some selected works of music by Beethoven’s Piano Trio Op 11 in B flat and Robert Schumann’s Piano trio Op 88.

After listening to the three music peices, Boodee thought of the city he lived for 8years of his life and where he learned the art and culture, New York City. The music triggered of Boodee’s memories of some of his closes friends such as Rick Rodine, Spencer Tunick, Lisa Barnstone and Onome Ekeh.  Boodee remarked: ”I had this wonderfull idea I shared with Onome and Rick since 1993, that is The Adventures of Ricky Deen some times we called it Adventures of Deen Newton. More I listened to the music, more it reminded me of the concept and the plot of Ricky Deen. Then I invited Onome to write it with me for a film and she accepted it and I am very happy about it.” The cast includes Mahendra Perera, Dasun Pathirana, Senaka De Silva, Chula, Dharshan Dharmaraj, Palitha Silva, Derek Wikramanayeka and Sangeetha Weerarathne.
