1,000 Dhamma School teachers soon

Ministry of Education has decided to recruit 1,000 young Dhamma School teachers to teach Buddhism at remote government schools. Ninety five of them would be appointed to schools in Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts of the North Western Province.

The public service commission has given the green light to recruit them as teacher assistants and later they will be absorbed into permanent cadre.

They will be entitled to pension benefits too on the completion of service.

In order to create a morally-developed future generation, Dhamma teachers have to be recruited from time to time. Many students of leading schools and universities behave impolitely and immorally as they were not moulded religiously and spiritually during their school days."The move to recruit teachers of Buddhism by the government must be admired by all sections of the country", said Ven. K. Dhammaratana Nayaka Thera, the Chief Advisor of Dhamma Schools of the Kurunegala District.
