Minister Aluthgamge donates Rs. 5 million for Kandy Stadium

It’s only a bare land now, but very soon the whole area will
be turned into a picturesque football stadium in Dangolla,
Kandy. The officials (from left): Neil Ubayasiri, Ranjit

FOOTBALL: Kandy will get a new football ground to International
standard as work has now begun on the former Dangolla Municipal
Playground to bring it to international level.
The energetic Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has allocated
Rs. 5 million for the project and a team of officials from he Football
Federation of Sri Lanka headed by energetic President Ranjith Rodrigo
and top ranking team of officials were in Kandy rcently to inspect the
area where the stadium is to come up.
All the facilities that go with a fashionable stadium will be there.
Besides the ground proper, there will be other facilities like a modern
pavilion that will have modern dressing rooms for the players and there
will be facilities for the media too.
According to well informed sources, the Sri Lanka Football Federation
is keen in having a dialogue with the International Football Federation
in building the stadium to international specifications. So, Kandy will
have a Football Stadium to international specifications.
