Pradeep Sanjaya wins a bronze

Pradeep Sanjaya, Sri Lanka’s only Paralympic medal winner,
achieved a landmark victory winning bronze medal with a time
of 50.30 seconds at the 2013 IPC Athletic World Championship
in Lyon, France on Saturday.

Sri Lanka's first Paralympic medal winner Pradeep Sanjaya won the
bronze medal on Saturday when he finished the 400m T46 event in 50.30
seconds in the on-going 2013 IPC Athletics World Championship held at
Lyon, France.
Sanjaya, who won the island nation's first Paralympic medal in the
last year's London Paralympic Games clocking 49.83 in his pet event,
retained his medal competing in the world's second biggest Paralympic
event after the 2012 London Paralympic Games. Apart from Sanjaya, two
athletes excelled bettering their world rankings, which is very
important for Sri Lanka's paralympic games.
YA Jayalath became fifth in the long jump and he rose to the seventh
rank in the 100m events and to the fifth place in 200 metres.
Amara Indumathi climbed to the seventh position in women's 200m
rankings. Sri Lankan contingent comprised seven men and one woman with
four officials for the IPC meet which is being held from July 19 to 29. |
