P.A. Lionel, new President, Sri Lanka Forex Association

Senior Deputy General Manager in charge of Treasury, International and Investment of Bank of Ceylon (BoC), P A Lionel was unanimously elected President of Sri Lanka Forex Association. All officials of Treasury related activities of 22 banks in Sri Lanka are members of this Association which is the apex body of treasury and dealing activities.

He joined the Bank of Ceylon as a Management Trainee in 1983, and joined the BoC Dealing Room in 1988. He received comprehensive training at the London Branch of Bank of Ceylon. In his 30-year career, he has functioned in the areas of treasury, international and investment for over 25 years and is one of the oldest members of the Forex community.

Innovation of BoC Treasury was completely handled by Lionel.

All large syndications in the international market were structured by him.

Under his leadership, BoC launched two US Dollar bond transactions mobilising US $ 1 billion. He held the position of Head of Treasury, BoC Karachchi branch and headed the BoC Primary Dealer Unit and BoC Treasury Division.
