Book Launch

Achieving Excellence in Studies: a student's companion

Dr. H.D. Sumanasekera's latest book

Achieving Excellence in Studies: A student's companion will be launched at the BMICH on September 14.

The book opens the pathway for students to inculcate the habit of ‘learning on their own.’ Children need to know how to learn and teach themselves.

The book provides guidance for ‘student-centred learning’ which focuses on each student's needs, abilities, interests, and learning styles, placing the teacher as a facilitator of learning.

Those who develop ‘a love of learning at an early age’ continue the process throughout their lives and are generally more successful, interesting, and happier than those who don't. The author presents materials related to students’ failure and strategies to help them succeed.
