Enhanced payments for GCE O/L staff

The Department of Examinations is making arrangements to hold the
G.C.E. (O/L) Examination 2013 from December 10 - 20 islandwide at 4,312
centres. About 580,110 candidates have applied to sit the examination of
whom 384,010 are school candidates and 196,100 private candidates.
Around 36,000 school heads and senior school teachers would be deployed
as staff at examination centres and 35,000 senior school teachers would
be deployed for evaluation activities this year, by the Examinations
Department.
A senior official of the NWP Education Department in Kurunegala told
the Sunday Observer that the Education Ministry has decided to increase
the payments to staff engaged in examination duties by 25 percent, from
this year.
He said special investigation teams would be deployed to make sudden
visits to examination centres to ensure that the examination process is
being conducted according to the rules and regulations issued by the
Examinations Department.
He said the Commissioner General of Examinations, W.M.N.J.
Pushpakumara, has decided to educate all school heads on the behaviour
of candidates at examination centres as some candidates had behaved
impolitely during the past several years.
"Those who violate examination rules would not be issued their exam
results or the results would be suspended" he said. |
