1,000 teacher assistants soon

The Government will take steps to recruit 1,000 teacher assistants
early next year to teach Buddhism in remote government schools
islandwide.
These future teacher assistants sat for a competitive examination
conduced by National Institute of Education (NIE) recently at 95 centres
in 19 towns in the country.
Over 12,000 candidates sat for this competitive examination and all
of them were Sunday Dhamma School teachers who had passed the Buddhist
Dharmacharya Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations,
Sri Lanka, said K. Dhammaratana Nayaka Therea, the chief Advisor of
Dhamma Schools of the Kurunegala District at a meeting of heads of
Dhamma Schools of the NWP held recently. |
