Pakistani nabbed trying to smuggle gems

Pakistani national who tried to smuggle gems worth over Rs. 1 million
into the country was nabbed by the Police Narcotics Bureau at the
Bandaranaike International Airport on Friday night.
Police took the suspect in for questioning following a tip off after
he went through the Customs green channel. He had reportedly come from
Karachchi, Pakistan.
Director Police Narcotics Bureau SSP Kamal Silva said they found over
700 precious stones hidden in the suspect’s baggage and clothes.
He was handed over to the Airport Customs along with the contraband
for further investigations.
