Lankan Women stickers hold Singapore to a draw

Lanka women hockey team held Singapore women team to a thrilling
one-all draw in their Asian Hockey challenge Women's Hockey Championship
organised by the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) and played at Queen
Sirikit Hockey Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand. At half time Sri Lanka led
1-0.
Sri Lanka scored first midway in the first when centre half Madushani
Jayanetti sent a short pass to skipper and centre forward Chathurika
Wijesuriya who drove the ball into the goal.
Second saw the Sri Lanka women trying to retain their lead and the
Singaporean kept attacking looking for the equaliser.
It was with 10 minutes for the final whistle that Singapore's centre
forward Boonso Buany dribbled her way to sound the boards.
The coach of the Sri Lanka women team M.A.M. Ashroff said the Sri
Lanka has a fine chance of entering the final by virtue of the 27-0 win
over Cambodia which gives them the best goal average in the tournament.
Sri Lanka is also unbeaten in the tournament. |
