SLIM launches 'Speech Idol 2013'
The preliminary rounds of the 'SLIM Speech Idol 2013' hosted by the
Toastmasters Club of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) was
conducted recently. The speech contest enables the sales and marketing
fraternity to showcase their public speaking skills.
It was held for the first time in 2012 and is the only national
speech contest that provides a platform for practitioners and students
in the field of sales and marketing to be recognised and rewarded.
President of the SLIM Toastmasters Club, Dulip Wijetilleke said,
"Effective communication is not limited to merely passing on a message,
but also requires such characteristics as the ability to organise
content, highlight essential points, use a variety of communication
devices and body language."
"The combined sense of humanity, togetherness and professional
development of the national speech contest that is the 'SLIM Speech Idol
2013' offers an opportunity for contestants to be far more professional,
talented, valued and popular," he said.
Contestants of 'SLIM Speech Idol 2013' will be evaluated by a panel
of veteran and senior toastmasters. The panel comprises over 30 judges
and the first woman Distinguished Toastmaster of Sri Lanka, Ms. Padmini
Samarasinghe will be the Chief Judge throughout the process.
In addition to being awarded the national recognition, winners will
receive cash prizes. |
