Errant bottle water manufacturers warned

Some bottles which contained drinking water were of low quality and contained pollutants according to investigations conducted by Health Ministry officials. This is a punishable offence and manufacturers of bottled drinking water are bound by the law to provide pure drinking water to consumers.

If manufacturers fail to comply with the rules and regulations of the Ministry of Health with regard to providing pure drinking water to the public, the licences issued to them would be cancelled immediately.

They should provide pure drinking water as many people fall ill due to consuming polluted water. Director General of Health Services Dr. Palitha Maheepala, has already warned manufacturers and stressed the importance of produce clean and pure drinking water for the public, said Asst. DMO in Kurunegala Dr. S.M.A. Priyadarshana.
