A program to develop public offices in the Kurunegala district as model offices in parallel with the Deyata Kirula 2014 exhibition was launched at the North Western Provincial Council recently. Public Management Reforms Minister Navin Dissanayake presents  a cheque worth Rs. 12 million to Chief Minister of the North Western Provincial Council Dayasiri Jayasekara to upgrade the Panduwasnuwara Divisional Secretariat as a model office with modern facilities. Secretary to the Ministry of Public Management Reforms W.M. Bandusena also participated in the event.


External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris discussed arrangements for the Commonwealth
Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Sri Lanka with Singapore’s Foreign Affairs and Law Minister K. Shanmugam. This discussion took place on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association in Perth, Australia recently. Minister Shanmugam conveying the good wishes of his Government for the success of the event had confirmed the participation by the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Singapore at CHOGM. Business leaders from Singapore will take part in the Business Forum, which is attracting a high degree of interest. The number of participants from overseas now stands at more than 600.


Mawahib Mowjood was adjudged the Best Student in International Relations for the Academic Year 2011/2012 at the Bandaranaike Centre for International Relations.
A product of Royal College, Colombo, Mowjood was Sri Lanka's Best GCE Advanced Level
Commerce medium student in 1983 and won the CIMA World Prize in 1985. Here Mowjood receives the Best Student award from the Chinese Ambassador Wu Jianghao at the BCIS Convocation held at the BMICH recently.
