Twins born in different years

Sets of twins in Washington, D.C., and Toronto were born just minutes apart, but their birthdays ended up in different years.

Yaleni Santos Tohalino gave birth at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday to Lorraine Yaleni Begazo at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, and the girl's fraternal twin brother, Brandon Ferdinando Begazo, was born at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, giving the infants birthdays in different years, ABC News.com reported .

"I feel wonderful full of joy and happiness and a full sense of realization," said the twins' father, Warren Begazo. "This is her first children ever, and they're beautiful and she's really happy." A similar situation took place in Toronto when Lindsay Salgueiro gave birth to Gabriela Salgueiro at Trillium Health Partners-Credit Valley Hospital at 11:52 p.m. Tuesday and twin sister Sophia Salgueiro was born just 38 seconds after the strike of midnight Wednesday. "They kind of got that golden ticket. They've got different birthdays," Lindsay Salgueiro said. "They're going to be best friends for life." ABC News
