Program to combat mozzy menace
Ninja mosquito coils has launched a program to combat the mosquito
menace.
The coils are made in Sri Lanka using 80% local materials.
A program was formulated to educate the public on the dangers of
throwing away coconut shells. The shells can be used as a source of
revenue. The company collects it, paying a fixed price, and uses it as
raw material for coils. Thus the very shells that might facilitate
mosquito breeding have been transformed into coils that repel
mosquitoes.
An innovative solution was devised by Ninja to use wood powder.
This powder, which is a waste product of the woodworking industry,
was previously dumped into lakes and waterways creating an environmental
hazard. Today it is used as raw material in mosquito coils.
Another way in which Ninja safeguards the environment is the use of
wood shavings to fire the boilers that bake the coils, instead of
diesel.
