Medical allowance for Dhamma school teachers
By S.M. Wijayaratne, Kurunegala Corr.
The Department of Buddhist Affairs will pay a monthly medical
allowance of Rs. 1,000 to Dhamma school teachers who have completed
fifty years service. “Since they had dedicated their knowledge, time and
energy to inculcate the teaching of the Buddha in children.
They deserve some sort of recognition. That is why this novel program
has been introduced on the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa
and Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne, said W.E. Jayathilake, the former
Divisional Secretary for Bingiriya speaking at a meeting of Dhamma
school teachers of the Kurunegala District held at Bingiriya Central
College recently.
