Lakruwan and Manomi Triathlon champs

Triathlon champs: Lakruwan Wijesiri of SL Navy and G.G. Manomi Kumari
Bandara from Dehiattakandiya Malliban Garments were crowned as the
triathlon men and women champions of the Eighth Carlton Super Sport
Festival continued for the second day in Tissamaharamaya yesterday.
Lakruwan took 1h:7m.52s to complete the event while Manomi spent
1h:27m.35s to reach the finish. Navy men dominated the triathlon event
as Sailors J.M.S. Nuwn Kumara (1h:8m.28s) and H.M. D.D. Bandara
(1h:9m.49s) followed their teammate champion Lakruwan to win second and
third places. M.P.A. Pathirana of Air Force (1h:33m.35s) and M.R.M.
Rupawathi of Polonnaruwa Civil Security Force (1h:42m.13s) won the
women's second and third places respectively.
The triathlon event saw 52 contestants including six women receiving
starting orders to swim across the Tissa Lake for a 750-metre stretch
and proceeded by the 20km cycling race towards Kataragama road up to
17th mile post and returned to Tissa lake bank before they start the
final part of the triathlon which is a 10km run.
The running episode continued up to Debarawewa junction and had to
return to the finishing point at Tissa lake bank.
The Carlton Super Sport rowing event was conducted in two rounds of
three rowing disciplines, namely scull, double scull and fours for both
men and women to determine the overall winners at the Tissa lake.
The Army, Navy and Colombo Rowing Club took part in women's event
while the SL Air Force, Navy and Colombo University teams rowed for the
men's championship.
Sailors excelled as Navy won both men's and women's overall champion
titles in rowing. Soldiers bagged the men's second place while SL Air
Force emerged women's second in rowing.
