Nameboards in Sinhala and Tamil

The National Languages Commission has informed all heads of government departments in the Kurunegala district to display the name boards of their institutions in Sinhala and Tamil languages.

Some name boards are now displayed only in Sinhala language, it is reported. All hospitals, police stations, Divisional Secretariats, Education and Pensions Department offices, should have bilingual name boards.

This decision will be enforced following the ‘Deyata Kirula – 2014’ National Development Exhibition at Kuliyapitiya an official of the Kurunegala District Secretariat said.
