SLBBC members call on Netherlands envoy

SLBBC members with the Netherlands Ambassador Louis W M. Piet.

Members of the Executive committee of the Sri Lanka-Benelux Business Council (SLBBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce paid a courtesy call on Netherlands Ambassador Louis W.M. Piet at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands recently.

Economic and Commercial Policy Advisor of the Embassy, Sanjeewa Sellahewa was also present.

The Ambassador outlined the events organised by the Embassy for this year. As business and ministerial delegations are due to visit Sri Lanka, the Ambassador called upon the Council to furnish detailed information on sectors of interest to promote Sri Lanka in the Netherlands and vice versa.

The Netherlands grants assistance to Sri Lankan businesses through institutions such as CBI and PUM. He encouraged the group to make maximum use of the available opportunities.

SLBBC President Jayantha Panabokke called upon the Ambassador to support the Council and build links between the SLBBC and counterpart organisations in the Netherlands.

The group discussed ways to promote trade and investment between Sri Lanka and the Netherlands, especially in sectors such as agriculture, dairy and tourism.
