Struggle for leadership on: Now Samarasinghe takes over from
Pathirana
The intense struggle for the first place continued between Royalists
Randev Pathirana (26,104) and Harith Samarasinghe (26,379) who took the
first place with a majority of 275 votes at the end of count number 9 in
the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer Of The Year
Contest.
Both Samarasinghe and Pathirana were key members for Royal this
season and it is interesting to see as to who will win the race. There
were no changes in the 'Gold' competition for schools participating in
the SLSCA division two tournament with St. Thomas', Matara's Lasith
Lakshan (17,887) maintaining his last week's lead over Tharaka Dananjaya
(16,903) of Carey with a lead of 984 votes.
In the Silver category for schools playing in division three last
week's winner Zaafi zarook of Vidyaloka, Galle) dropped to the second
place with Devapathiraja's Dilshan Kanchana taking the first place with
15-649 votes. Mohammed Ziras of Madeena MV, Kandy climbed to the 5th
position after being peaced 7th last week.
