In its attempts to boost, formalise and raise the profile of Sri
Lankan modelling industry, Runway Super Model competition is one of the
pioneers.
An island-wide hunt is on for fresh faces who would be groomed and
trained as models that would walk the catwalk for Asia Super Model 2014
held in China.
The first round of casting interviews for models and intern designers
was held on May 10 at Colombo Courtyard. Candidates faced two qualified
panels of Judges.
Model interviews were conducted by National Director for 9th Asia
Super Model Contest Jayantha Wedasighe, Actor Hiran Yattowita and Ms.
Amanda de Silva, one of the Sri Lankan top models who has won
International awards representing the country in many international
pageants.
Designer Judging Panel consisted of Raffealla Fernando, awards
winning designer and Dulanjali Galahitiyawa, Managing Director of
International clothing brand “South Wind by DYPK”.
Out of the candidates there were nine models and six designers
selected from the 1st round interviews and the second segment interviews
will be conducted on May 24 at Jack Tree, Thai cuisine at Colombo 5.
“Still there is an opportunity for designers and models to join the
Runway Supermodel Top 12 cast.
I would like to invite the models, not only those already in the
field but also young amateurs who have the interest and enthusiasm,”
said project chairmen Bhagya Egodage.
The Organising committee opens its doors for the final call of
applications for designers and amateur / professional models to apply
for the Runway Supermodel contest. Individuals aged between 18 - 25
years and who have minimum height of 5’ 6” can send their CVs to [email protected]
