SLSI to mark 50th anniversary
The Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) has organised various
programs to mark its 50th anniversary, Director General, SLSI, Dr.
Lalith Senaweera said.

He said that an art competition has been organised for schoolchildren
with the Ministries of Technology and Research and Education. A
commemorative stamp will also be issued.
An exhibition titled 'Quality 2014' will also be held at BMICH from
December 3 to 7 as part of the anniversary celebrations. The best
creation at the art competition will be used as the image on the stamp.
He said that only local students will be allowed to take part in the
competition. Creations in Sinhala, Tamil and English will be accepted.
The paper used must be 30 inches in height and 20 inches in width.
Any colour may be used. The drawings, with the school principal's
approval, should be sent to: 'Drawing Competition', Sri Lanka Standards
Institution, 17, Victoria Place, Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 8, before
July 1. The sender's name, address and the name of the school should be
mentioned on the reverse side of the drawing, Dr Senaweera said.
The first prize will be 25,000, second prize - Rs. 15,000 and the
third prize – Rs. 10,000.
“The Sri Lanka Standards Institution conducts nearly 100 courses
including three types of diploma courses. We have also started distance
learning courses for the convenience of those who reside in distant
places,” he said.
