SMIDEX 2014 to boost SMI development
SMIDEX 2014, the newest version of industrial exhibitions, organised
by Sri Lanka's premier industrial promotion agency, the Industrial
Development Board of Ceylon (IDB), is set to put Small and Medium
Industries (SMIs) on an accelerated development momentum with better
market, technological and human resource opportunities and support a
large number of small and medium industries.

Celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, the Industrial
Development Board has helped many industries to acquire export markets.
The inaugural SMIDEX 2014 hopes to promote many deserving SMIs to
expand borders locally and internationally.
The SMIDEX 2014 will also witness the convergence of a large number
of exhibitors from the domestic and international markets. SMIDEX 2014
is designed to showcase Sri Lankan SMIs in producing products, services
and technologies for the Sri Lankan and international markets. Large
companies and multinational corporations (MNCs) have also been invited
to display parts and components they would like to procure from SMIs.
Chairman, IDB, Nawaz Rajabdeen said that SMIDEX 2014 will be a platform
for multiple SMI promotional activities such as exhibition of products
and services, business matching sessions, product launches and
presentations, exchange of information and ideas on product development
and design and technology and innovation and recognition of industrial
excellence.
He said that as many as 20 industrial sectors and 10 different
industrial support services will be featured during the exposition.
The wide variety of industrial products, services, and SMI support
services will make the SMIDEX 2014 an event for everyone involved in SMI
promotion and development.
The exhibition will be held at the BMICH from May 23 to 25. It will
be open to the public from 10 am to 9 pm on each day. |
