Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, a company
involved in Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC), opened a new
laboratory in Katubedda recently.
Apparel and non apparel vendors, government and semi-government
authorities and members of Chambers were present.
General Manager, Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Lanka (Pvt)
Ltd, Chanaki de Costa said they began their journey in Sri Lanka 19
years ago with six employees and shifted to a state-of-the-art facility
in Katubedda and now employ 220 people.
She said the new facility will be a green certified laboratory.
“After 19 years we decided to diversify our activities to other
sectors due to the strong positioning of Bureau Veritas which serve
eight industries in 140 countries.
"We extended our activities to non apparel testing a few years ago,”
de Costa said.
Bureau Veritas has registered with Central Environmental Authority (CEA)
in Sri Lanka for testing of water and waste water which further expanded
their ability to test for BOD, COD, pH, pesticides, heavy metals and TSS
analysis.
Cosmetic products, food, paint and chemicals are tested as per the
local and international regulations which help exporters and importers
of these products.
The new facility which uses high tech equipment would serve as a hub
point for all testing, inspection and audit services and endeavors to
promote further development and expand the facility to other areas.
The company has obtained ISO 17025: 2005 (Certificate of
Accreditation for Textile Testing – Mechanical and Chemical Testing)
from the National Accreditation Board of Testing and Calibration
Laboratories (NABL) and is one of the largest QA Services providers to
the apparel industry in Sri Lanka. |
