Isipathana, Trinity and Royal in impressive wins on the first day

Isipathana, Trinity and Royal recorded impressive wins on the first
day of the Milo All Island Schools Under-14 Rugby Championships, which
began at the Royal Sports Complex yesterday.
Isipathana scored two smashing wins over Mahanama (46-0) and
Dharmaraja (33-nil) while Trinity beat Vidyartha (15-0) and Mahanama
(40-nil). Royal also scored two good wins over Zahira Colombo (15-0) and
St Anthony's Kandy (22-0).
DS Senanayake came up with the stunning display to beat more fancied
S Thomas' College Mount Lavinia by 15 points to 5 while formidable
Peterites were also held to a draw by a gallant Wesley outfit.
Isipathana will meet Royal in the first quarter-final of the Cup
Championship at 8am today. Followed by the match between St Joseph's and
Trinity at 8.25am.
Giant killers DS Senayake will confront Kingswood College in the
third quarter final at 8.50am while in the last quarter-final, Science
and Wesley will battle for honours at 9.15am.
Zahira College will take on Panadura Royal in the first quarter-final
of the Bowl Championship at 11.20am. Followed by the game between Lalith
Athulathmudali MV and Mahanama at 11.45am.
Third quarter-final between Prince of Wales and St Sylvester's will
be played at 12.10pm while Nalanda have drawn a bye due to withdrawal of
Thirstan, who were due to play in the last quarter-final of the Bowl
Championship. |
