Foreign Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris opened the commonwealth Youth Secretariat at the Hambantota District Secretariat recently. Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dallas Alahapperuma, Disaster Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, Hambantota District MP, Namal Rajapaksa and National Youth Services Council Chairman Lalith Pium Perera were present.

The employees of Ceylinco Insurance (General) distributed water to several remote areas of the drought stricken Polonnaruwa district recently. Around 8,500 one and a half litre bottles of drinking water were distributed under the first phase of the project. Over 16,000 litres of water were provided daily in bowsers for two weeks . The water was distributed to Gurugodalla, Palliyagodella, Ilukpitiya, Wadigawewa, Meegaswewa, Nikahena, Galadamana and the Holsim Village.


An allocation of Rs. 2 lakhs was made to concrete Napawala Belawankande road in the Dehiowita Divisional Secretary's division, following a request made by Napawala Grama Niladharini Nilani Hettiarachchi. Here Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councillor Harsha Siyambalapitiya is engaged in religious rituals prior to commencement of the road work. Dehiowita Pradeshiya Sabha member Sammun Lebbe, Napawala Grama Niladharini and Dehiowita Assistant Divisional Secretary Saranga Sarathchandra were present.
