Iran retain Asian Youth Volleyball title for record sixth successive
year

Iran clinched the Asian Youth Volleyball Championship for a record
sixth successive year by beating Japan by 3-0 in the final played at the
Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium courts yesterday. The defending champions,
Iran completely dominated the final by winning all three sets. They were
off to a flying start in the first set winning convincingly by 25-11.
In the next two sets, they were given a tough time by the Japanese
before the Iranians edged them out by 25-22 and 25-23 respectively to
emerge as the undisputed champions.
In the third place Play Off, China who lost the first set 24-26,
bounced back to beat Chinese Taipei by 25-19, 25-21, 25-17 to finish as
the third best nation in Asian Youth Volleyball Championship.

Seventh Place India beat Australia by 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-14).
Fifth Place Sri Lanka beat Korea by 3-2 (21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 23-25,
23-21)
Third Place China beat Chinese Taipei by 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 25-21,
25-17)
Final Iran beat Japan by 3-0 (25-11, 25-22, 25-23)
