'Rainbow Swirls'
Anasha Tirathdas will hold her debut art exhibition, 'Rainbow Swirls'
at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery. Anasha loves to experiment with colour
and will venture with her own colour combinations on canvas.
She uses the colours of the rainbow. When deciding on a name for her
exhibition she thought of rainbows and swirls.
Anasha turned eight in September this year and has been painting
since she was five-years-old. She is a student of Rhuani Rambukwelle’s
art school ‘The Hardy Centre of Art’. Anasha has exhibited paintings in
her art school exhibitions and won 2nd place for her paintings.
Anasha’s paintings include oils, acrylics, pastels, black gel pen
drawings and glass paintings. What she enjoys painting most are animals
and sceneries although she has done many paintings of abstract and
figures too. She will be exhibiting paintings done since 2012. Anasha is
a year four student of British School in Colombo. The exhibition will
open to the public on October 18 and 19 from 10 am to 8 pm.

Looking for prey

LAND MONITOR Veranus Bengalensis
Land monitors are mainly found in the lowland Dry Zone. It is one of
the most widely distributed living Varanids. It inhabits a large range
of habitats ranging from rain forests, farmlands, gardens and dry open
forests.
Land monitors reach the maximum snout to vent length of about 140 cm
and large specimens can weigh over 10kg. They are excellent
climbers.Kumudu Gunasekera was at hand when he spotted the reptile
searching for prey. |
