Salary arrears to be paid soon

The Government will pay the arrears of 50 percent of the salaries of non-academic employees of state universities next manth.

The circular had already been issued and Rs. 93 million will be paid to the employees, as arrears. The duration of this due payment is from 1st January to December 31st 2004 and it is to be paid in December this year.

Following a request from the Minister of Higher Education S.B. Dissanayake the President Mahinda Rajapaksa has approved to pay these arrears without any reduction, said the Minister of Higher Education S.B. Dissanayake at a conference of University lecturers held recently at Wayamba University in Kuliyapitiya.
