Mahinda Abeysundara's funeral tomorrow

The funeral of Mahinda Abeysundara, veteran journalist and former editor and Consultant Editor of the Dinamina newspaper will take place tomorrow at the Madapatha burial grounds. Abeysundara passed away last Friday in Colombo. He who was in the media for nearly fifty years had been battling against illness in the recent past.

Hailing from Pathegama in Matara, Abeysundara joined the Davasa Group of Newspapers in 1961 and the Janadina in 1964. He was a former English teacher and had served in schools in Moratuwa and Colombo areas. He joined the Lake House during the tenure of the late Chairman Janadasa Peiris and served the Dinamina as the Editor for over a decade.

He served as the Consultant Editor to 'Dinamina' until his demise.

He was the News Director of the Independent Television Network in 1996.

'Wimasuma' and Wiparama' political programs telecasts on ITN television network were popular programs written by this veteran journalist.

Abeysundara was 75 and a father of four.
