Abortion pills sellers nabbed
Two three-wheeler drivers who pleaded guilty of
selling abortion pills to pregnant women were fined Rs. 50,000 each
by Kurunegala Chief Magistrate Ravindra Premaratne recently. The
accused had sold abortion pills for Rs. 12,000 and had also advised
the women as to how the pills should be taken the police told the
magistrate.

Reckless driving kills two
Two children aged five and 15 died in two
separate accidents reported from Gampola and Chilaw on Friday due to
reckless driving, the police said. A lorry bound for Legumdeniya
from Panwila had veered off course and run over a boy standing
beside the Galaha – Gampola Main Road in Pussatenna area.
