Ever since they launched themselves professionally in 1986 the 'Allegakoon
Sisters' have met with success.

The Allegakoon Sisters – Chandrika and Radhiha |
Past pupils of Methodist College, Colombo, Chandriha and Rudhiha were
fortunate that their mother Thavamani, a renowned flautist supported
their decision and gave them the encouragement to make good their
career.
Their audition at the SLBC which was a requirement then saw, them
being selected as the 'Singing sisters' and were given the opportunity
to be featured in a variety show for Deepavali which was later telecast
on Rupavahini in 1987.
The 'Allegakoon Sisters' were also invited by the late Thevis Guruge
to be featured on ITN which they were happy to oblige him. Their
repertoire is mainly Christian religious songs.
On Christmas Day 2014, a performance by them was telecast on Channel
Eye/Nethra at 5.30 p.m.
One of the songs they harmonised was the song 'Seer Yesu Palan', the
melody for which was composed by their late mother Thavamani who was an
A graded artiste performing with the SLBC orchestra.
Their mother was also a member of the Sherad Sisters who performed
regularly at our concert stages. Singing the Allegakoon Sisters,
consider as a service to the public and are not interested in money as a
remuneration. |
