A preliminary meeting focusing on literacy and reading promotion was held in December 2014 in Incheon. President, Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association and Vice President, Asia Pacific Publishers Association, Vijitha Yapa was invited to make a presentation about reading promotion in Sri Lanka and in South Asia.

He said that Sri Lanka has a literacy rate of 98% and is projected to achieve 100% literacy in 2016.
