Jaffna folk hail govt
by Naalir Jamaldeen
The 100-day program launched by the Government has provided various
concessions to the people while improving the rural economy. We hope
that the unemployment problem in the district would be solved by the
Government, a cross section of people in Jaffna told the Sunday
observer.
They said that they are confident that the new Government would find
a solution to the people’s problems.
The interim budget is a boon to people who live below the poverty
line and the middle class too. The prices of essential commodities have
been reduced and this in turn will reduce the people’s expenses they
said.
People in the North and the East voted for the new Government as they
knew it will do more for the country, said M Wasanthakumar of the Jaffna
Periyakada market.
People in the North and the East helped effect a change in the
country. The national problem must be solved, he said.
“The country faced various problems. We are confident that the
Government will take steps in this regard to resolve the problems of
Tamils. We hope that the majority of people in this country will extend
their support to the new Government”, they said. |
