Niroshan, Pavan hit centuries despite Edirisinghe's 8-108

Niroshan Dickwella and Pavan Wickramsinghe made centuries in NCC's 344 runs despite Tamil Union's Chamikara Edirisinghe picking up eight wickets on the second day of a Premier League Group A match at P Sara Oval, Colombo yesterday.

In reply to Tamil Union's 252 all out, NCC opener Niroshan Dickwella (108) and Pavan Wickramasinghe (103) put on a 156-run partnership for the second wicket. Dickwella made his second hundred of the season following his maiden double hundred against Badureliya in the season opener.

Tamil Union's left arm spinner, Chamikara Edirisinghe took eight wickets for 108 runs. It was former Maliyadeva College cricketer's best bowling performance.

Tamil Union are trailing by 43 runs as they lost three wickets for 49 runs in the second innings. National discarded paceman Farveez Maharoof, who picked up two wickets in the first innings, claimed two for 13 at stumps.

Tamil Union: 252 all out in 78.1 overs (Tharaka Gamage 55, Rumesh Buddika 41, Kithuruwan Vithanage 37, Chamikara Edirisinghe 32, Tharindu Kaushal 3-63, Jehan Mubarak 2-35, Farveez Maharoof 2-59) and 49-3 in 15 overs (Kithuruwan Vithanage 21 n.o, Rumesh Buddika 1 n.o, Farveez Maharoof 2-13).
