Maliban Mercantile Cricket Sixes at BRC on March 15

Maliban, the pioneering biscuit manufacturer in the country, proudly celebrates its 60 years of business excellence this year, where the company is organizing a series of events to mark six decades of providing the country with nothing but the best of products. Among the series of celebratory activities, which includes numerous religious and CSR ventures, is the Maliban Mercantile 6-A-Side Cricket Tournament 2015, which will take place on the 15th of March from 8.00am onwards at BRC Grounds.

At the tournament, over 32 mercantile teams-including some of the best mercantile teams in the country-will compete for the A.G. Hinniappuhamy Memorial Trophy. The company has partnered with the Mercantile Softball Cricket Association (MSCA) in obtaining the necessary guidance to conduct the tournament adhering to the set regulations and standards of MSCA. The top three teams who will emerge as winners and top performers in terms of bowling, batting and fielding will receive attractive cash prizes, certificates and trophies.

Commenting on the venture, Mr. Bandula Perera, Group General Manager (HR & Administration) shared, "Maliban is one of the best house hold brands in the country. We celebrate our 60th anniversary this year due to the manufacturing excellence of the company and thanks to our loyal consumers.

As a company, we initiated various CSR projects and religious activities representing all religions to commemorate the 60th year. Cricket has been one of the most popular sports in the country, hence in line with our anniversary celebrations we decided to organize a six-a-side softball cricket tournament. I am proud to state that we have received overwhelming responses from mercantile teams, and I would like to invite all sports enthusiasts to come to BRC grounds on March 15th to cheer their favourite teams."

As an industry trendsetter and a responsible corporate citizen, Maliban strives to inculcate a culture within the industry, where all institutions will work together in harmony, towards achieving success. As such, building relationships and providing its employees an opportunity to interact with peers from other fields are some of the main objectives of organizing this tournament.
