 'Ganu Denu'
The Avurudu time is a special time to exchange money. This exchange
is known as Ganu Denu and done once the festival dawns. It is generally
carried out as soon as the first meal is consumed. The senior-most
family member gives cash to the other members of the family. The money
is normally placed on a sheaf of betel. This custom is practised in
almost all Buddhist homes. |
